You know the old fashion computer mice? The one with the ball instead of the infrared laser? Aren't they a major pain in the ass when they get dirt inside them?
I was at a client's office today working with one of these classic mice. The thing was still dressed in manila it was so old. Now it may just be me, but does anyone else have the problem where the mouse doesn't get stuck until you're like a hair away from the edge of whatever you want to click? You keep moving and moving and moving, but the damn thing...

One of the worst things that can happen in the IT world is when something so simple goes terribly wrong. A simple install of a network printer using HP's install disc produces an error message. Now every time the PC restarts it says it has found a new printer. A printer that is already installed and working.
So at the start of this issue I figured I would uninstall using the HP disc. Negative. The message still pops up. I went and uninstalled all HP software on that PC. The message still pops up. Furious over this I began to...

In the past, many computers went down to the install of XP SP2 forcing many people to reformat their hard drives and start from scratch. Do you think Microsoft would have learned from this situation and not have another occurrence with Service Pack 3? Nope.
It started Memorial weekend when my grandfather just asked me to update his computer. I saw that the only update was Service Pack 3 for XP. It went through the first part of the install and then attempted to restart. Only to error out with the horrifying blue screen of death just after the...

There's nothing worse than when an application crashes. Especially when it's an application that works perfectly fine and then crashes when you try to close it.
My task today was to rid a PC of spyware. Before I began my removal, I was browsing around to see what problems this spyware was causing. I noticed that the PC's ability to use a search engine was hijacked, IE crashed on exit, and that the PC was using over a gig of memory resources...
Anyway, a restart of the workstation toke care of the memory issue. That's one down. Next, I...

For a living, I work on computer and network design and repair for a local business. One program we enjoy selling to our clients is Symantec 10.2. That is before Symantec 11.0 was introduced. Here is our experience with this program.
Our first install of Symantec 11.0 was on the Windows network of another local business. The server that they had in control of this network was not one of the best quality available, but should have been able to carry out the install of any anti-virus software. The server was able install Symantec 11.0. After 3...
